Continue to the Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering marvel that tamed the Nile and created Lake Nasser, transforming Egypt’s agricultural future. Afterward, check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch, with the afternoon free for an optional visit to the Nubian Village, where vibrant mud-brick homes and warm hospitality offer a glimpse into one of Egypt’s oldest cultures , after your experience you will be back to the hotel in Aswan for an over night.
On Day 2, your On Trip Egypt guide will pick you up in the early morning for the journey to Abu Simbel, with a breakfast box provided for the road. After a scenic drive through the Nubian desert, you’ll arrive at one of Egypt’s most awe-inspiring monuments: the Abu Simbel Temples, carved into the mountainside by Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC. The Great Temple features four colossal seated statues of Ramses II at its entrance, each towering over 20 meters high, and is dedicated to the gods Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Ptah, and Ramses himself. Nearby, the Small Temple honors Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor, with statues of the queen standing equal in size to those of the king—a rare tribute in ancient Egyptian art. These temples were relocated in a remarkable UNESCO-led effort in the 1960s to save them from submersion by Lake Nasser. After exploring the site with your guide, you’ll return to Aswan for lunch, then begin the drive back to Luxor, completing a journey through Egypt’s southern treasures.
